Getting to a hospital appointment without driving yourself
Downtown hospital parking is expensive and scarce, and some procedures mean you legally cannot drive home. A booked car solves both.
Toronto's hospital district along University Avenue, along with Sunnybrook, Sick Kids and the regional hospitals across the GTA, generates a steady and largely invisible category of transport work. It is not glamorous and it is genuinely useful.
Why people book it
- Sedation. After many procedures you are told you cannot drive and cannot travel alone. That is a rule, not advice.
- Parking. Downtown hospital parking is expensive and often full, and circling for a space with an appointment time is its own stress.
- Mobility. An SUV's step-in height is considerably easier than folding into a low sedan for someone in discomfort.
- Reliability. An appointment slot that is missed can mean waiting weeks for another.
How we handle it
We agree the exact entrance — large hospitals have several, and the right one can be a long walk from the wrong one. The chauffeur helps with doors and bags, and waits where waiting is permitted. For a return after a procedure, we hold the booking rather than requiring you to call and start again.
Accessibility
Tell us the requirement when booking. An SUV covers a lot of mobility needs. For a passenger who must remain in their wheelchair, we arrange a properly equipped accessible vehicle through our operator network rather than improvising on the day.
Companions
Where a procedure requires someone to accompany you, the booking covers both, and the chauffeur is not a substitute for that person.
Discretion
Unmarked vehicles, and no conversation about where you have been. See black car service or call (877) 403-1177.
